Anna Bowen is a freelance writer, editor, and poet based in Guelph, Ontario.

She is the host for the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival podcast, which includes interviews with Sharon Bala, Jordan Abel, Lisa Moore, Alissa York, Cordelia Strube, Jael Richardson, Jesse Ruddock and Nicholas Ruddock. The podcast is also available on CFRU.ca.  Along with co-host Kim Davids Mandar, she also produces a weekly books show, Bookish Radio, on CFRU.


Anna’s current poetry is available in a catalog for the ReMediate gallery exhibit, a textile installation on the former Eastview Landfill site in Guelph with artist Christina Kingsbury, ongoing from 2013 to 2016.  The show was on view at Guelph’s Boarding House Gallery in the summer of 2016 and was the winner of the Jury’s Choice Award at the Gladstone Grow Op 2016.  The catalog was published by Publication Studio Guelph and features an essay by philosopher-poet Karen Houle.

Anna’s writing on Canadian literature, social and environmental justice, spirituality, and public space can be found in The Millwright:Musings from the Eden Mills’ Writers FestivalAlternatives Journal, Geez Magazine, This Magazine, Momentum Magazine and Spacing. She is former front section co-editor at This Magazine.

Anna has an MA from the University of Toronto in Sociology and Equity Studies in Education and Women and Gender studies,  and a diploma in Creative Writing from the Humber School for Writers.  She also studied feature writing and copy editing at Ryerson University.
